I have conducted, and am available, to lead writing workshops, at all levels in fiction and creative nonfiction. Special topics:

In addition to general topic workshops, I have led these special topics:

  • Book-length workshop, critiquing novels, short story collections, essay collections, narrative nonfiction, biography, memoir
  • Novel chapter workshop, focusing on the chapter of a novel as a key element of a book-length work, with a dynamic all its own
  • Literary journalism, welcoming writers of personal journalism, personal essay, travel writing, food writing, arts writing, literary reportage, memoir with reportage
  • The meaning of place, in fiction and nonfiction, with a look at how setting is more than just landscape, but a vital, multi-faceted aspect of a work of creative writing, often a character unto itself
  • Home Sweet Home, fiction and nonfiction where home, in all its manifestations – a place we love, a place we yearn to leave, the essence of who we are, the crossroads of conflict, the locale of nurturing – is a theme in discussion and creative writing
